VR Admiral's Bridge is a VR application for Meta Quest 2 developed using Unreal Engine as part of the iHeritage project for the promotion and enhancement of the monument of the same name in Palermo. By wearing a VR headset and using controllers, users can explore the bridge in first person, traveling through space and time thanks to faithful reconstructions of both historical and contemporary settings. Designed for educational and informative purposes, the experience has been enriched with gamification elements, such as magical portals for level changes, glowing points that provide access to 360° panoramas, and informative panels along the way that describe the bridge and tell its history; additionally, to prevent user motion sickness, dynamic vignette effects and teleportation were implemented.
In response to the needs of the iHeritage project, a PC desktop version of the application was also developed, with the necessary adaptations to ensure an optimal experience on this platform.
